Aaaahh, the golden days of Apple Macintosh computers. My family had many of them through the 80s and 90s, and I have fond memories of them all. These included:
- Macintosh 512k
- Macintosh SE/30
- Macintosh Quadra 800
- … and my first major technology purchase with my own hard-earned dollars, the Power Macintosh PowerPC 6100/60AV.
Between games of Frogger, Spaceship Warlock, and Marathon — and when we weren’t browsing AOL — our computers’ screens were saved by the After Dark screensaver package.
Today I decided to relive the glory days. By combining a CSS recreation of After Dark’s screensavers with an open-source OS X WebView screensaver, I’ve got exactly what I was after: flying toasters and fish tanks for when my computer is idle — all for free.
